In the last few months I have done some pretty regularly creative cooking. Fortunately or unfortunately that means I haven’t been able to post the homemade BBQ sauce that I’ve been advertising on Instagram! But good things come to those who wait, and today my dears, you get BBQ sauce! This is totally my go to because it is seriously delicious but mostly because you can literally put it on anything. I put it on whole chicken, pulled pork, ribs, you name it! I haven’t tried it on eggs yet, but I’m sure it’s good on that too. The main thing you need to remember with this is that pepper is your friend. My all-time favorite BBQ sauce, a less healthy option from Rudy’s Barbeque in Texas, is loaded with pepper and I believe that is the secret.
Ingredients
½ onion, diced small
15 oz tomato sauce
2 Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp mustard
2 tsp or more ground black pepper
½ tsp crushed red pepper
¼ tsp salt
Directions
Throw all the kids in a sauce pan and simmer on low for 30 minutes or so depending on how thick you want it. It’ll thicken the longer it cooks, but it will also cook down. So if you want it thick like I do, you might want to double your recipe. I mean, there’s no such thing as too much BBQ sauce anyway so I say go for it!
I hope you guys enjoy this and find it easy and delicious. It’s the simple things!
